In the book Addy Saves the Day, Addy and her parents plant a vegetable garden in a rented plot with the hope that they can sell the vegetables to earn money. They plan to use that money to go and search for Addy’s older brother Sam and baby sister Esther, who are not with them in Philadelphia, and presumably still somewhere in North Carolina where the whole family used to live on a plantation in slavery. If that’s not a good reason to sell, buy, and eat vegetables, I don’t know what is! I’ve said it before, Addy’s books are my very favorite AG series–go read them if you haven’t! Please enjoy my interpretation of Addy setting up her vegetable stand with hope and anticipation that it will help to reunite her family:
These pictures are gorgeous! I haven’t ever read Addy’s books, but I really want to! 🙂 Addy is so cute!

My favorite photo is the back view with Addy holding up her sign and tankard/vase. I have always admired this outfit but don’t own it. You’re inspiring me to get my Addy dressed in her fancy attire.

I don’t have any of Addy’s books yet. Can you tell me, are the older Addy books the same as the Beforever books? If not which ones should I buy?

Good question. For all of the historical characters, Addy included, all of the original books are in the first two novels of the Beforever books (each doll has a three book set). They are exactly the same, the only thing you miss out on is the beautiful illustrations. There are no illustrations in the Beforever books. The third book in the Beforever series is a “My Journey” book, which is a new story that was not part of the original six book set from way back when. It is a pick-your-own-ending book that follows a modern girl who goes back in time and meets the character. I really liked Addy’s My Journey books, but I can’t say the same about all of the other characters (I didn’t really like Maryellen’s at all). So there is definitely nothing wrong with getting the Beforever books, you will still get the exact same story plus an extra, new story with the My Journey book if you get the boxed set. You just will miss out on the illustrations.

Thank you so much for your detailed response. I have bought my girls the Kit and Rebecca older books and they love the illustrations. So I will be sure to buy them the older books. Again I really appreciate your feedback, I have been waffling between the older and newer books, trying to decide which to buy.😊

This is so cute! And I’m glad someone asked about the veggies, I was thinking they were real but I wasn’t quite sure. They were perfect props!
